Diego Del Morao is considered one of the best flamenco guitarists of our times, his genius as an artist, his unique sense of rhythm, and his endless creativity make him a true “Wizard” of the guitar as many call him, and he is recognized as one of the guitarists with the most projection in the flamenco scene.
Diego Moreno Jiménez, from Jerez and belonging to the renowned lineage of guitarists of Los Morao, is the eldest son of Moraito Chico and was trained in his own home under the watchful eye of his father, although he also received training at the Carbonero school.
He began his journey on stage at the early age of 14, accompanying great artists from the land such as La Macanita, Fernando de la Morena, or Vicente Soto in different clubs and festivals. Shortly after, his guitar playing started to stand out progressively. Since then, he has always been in demand by figures such as José Mercé, Enrique Morente, Diego el Cigala, Niña Pastori, Miguel Poveda, Pansequito, Diego Carrasco, Montse Cortés, Marina Heredia, among many others. His music is present in numerous recordings of artists who request his collaboration for their discographic works.
He has recorded for the greatest artists of the flamenco scene: Confi de Fua with José Mercé, Picasso en mis Ojos with Diego el Cigala are just a few… His only solo album called Orate was received with great acceptance and recognition. In ‘Orate’, artists of the stature of Paco de Lucía participate. He owns the Jerez Cup award and a Grammy for the album Entre dos Aguas, a tribute to Paco de Lucía. It is not surprising that the master of masters publicly said that Diego was “his weakness”.
Currently, Diego combines his tour with Israel Fernández in the discographic project conceived by both artists titled “Amor” along with his solo live performances.
